My core aim as an educator is to engage students in enjoyable, meaningful, and research-based learning experiences that capture the interest of the child. I encourage curiosity and deep learning through intentional dialogue and questioning and promote critical thinking by challenging children to consider alternative viewpoints. One of my strengths as an educator is my ability to make connections to a student’s prior knowledge when introducing a new concept, and structuring learning experiences to be inclusive of teacher modelling and guided practice before moving students into independent work. 

I am especially passionate about supporting students to become engaged and motivated readers and make use of high quality children's literature to support the development of all aspects of the English Curriculum. I have had particular success in running Book Club style group sessions that enable students to collectively build understanding by talking and thinking their way through a new text with my guidance. These Book Club session would make an excellent addition to any established home school program!

My services include:

• One on one tuition in English and Mathematics for students working from Victorian Curriculum Level C – Level 8
• Small group Book Clubs. The specific book, learning foci and length/duration of sessions has all be customised to the needs of your children.

What to expect:

• An initial 'getting to know you' session with your child/children inclusive of informal assessment to determine learning goals
• Tuition sessions inclusive of a range of activities and games tailored to meet your child's pre-determined learning goals as well as suggestions for continued home practice of specific skills if requested
• Book club sessions will require the use of an agreed upon text and time set aside to complete required reading before/after each group 'meeting'.
