More About Kintara Phillips & Emily Keegan

Kintara & Emily are experienced and passionate teachers providing Educational Mentoring to Gifted and Twice Exceptional (2e) young people. Educational Mentoring is more than tutoring, it is following the diverse learning needs of these young people to help them face challenges, exploring their world with curiosity and creativity. Ultimately nurturing their emergence into all they are destined to be. 

There is no 'typical session' with us, all sessions are student directed based on individual needs at the time. We support academic learning and the development of concepts and skills, but we also work as a sounding board, someone to bounce ideas off, providing insight into the process and purpose of learning. 

While traditional ‘tutoring’ may have the goal of taking your ‘A’ grade student and move them to an ‘A+’ this is never the focus during our sessions. Can this happen as a result of sessions with Emergence, of course, but as a parent you need to understand this is never our goal – rather sometimes just a happy coincidence of a confident, resilient young person who has been able to learn how to learn.

We want to help your young person navigate the challenges of education in a holistic manner, while supporting you and your family to understand what the school system may expect of you and your young person. Our approach to working with your young person is to look at the goals that you share as a family. We work with students who find school challenging and need a guide and mentor to navigate these challenges. We also welcome families who are homeschooling provide varied educational experiences for their young person.
